Plenty of weather checking and crazing - the pictures dont do the guitar justice. There is no serial number, but my Dad bought it new in 1937. It has a Regal logo on the headstock and a white label under the left sound-hole that reads: GENUINE BEARD SETUP - 4/29/05. Looks amazing with its beautifully aged sunburst finish. some the Regal but a Regal made model 27 and a Regal made Model 27 with the Dobro label are the exact same guitar. So I'd say: Regal or Dobro, Chicago-made and 1930's as Mike E said. A Google search on "Regal resonator mandolin" reveals several such instruments, some labeled "Dobro," some "Regal" some have the round-hole resonator cover with f-holes in the shoulders, some have screen holes instead. My Dobro's got the "moon & stars" coverplate - crescent and star-shaped piercings - while this one has clusters of round holes. Regal made many bodies for Dobro, and Dobro sold many resonators to Regal, so without a headstock decal it's hard to attribute definitively. Body's exactly like my late '30's Dobro mandolin, other than the fact that mine has "screen holes" in the shoulders, and this one has f-holes.
